The Eastern Christian
Children's Retreat is a private, non-profit organization created to
support individuals with a broad range of mental and physical
disabilities.
The sincere desire of the founders and the Board of
Directors is that each individual, according to her/his hopes and
needs, have the opportunity to achieve personal growth and a
meaningful life. Such a life will be marked by giving to and
receiving from others, exercising choice in important aspects of
life, and experiencing incorporation into the larger community
through work, recreation, worship and a place of residence.
A
caring, skilled and dedicated staff minister to the residents, guided
by our Christian calling and principles.

VISION STATEMENT |
Trusting in God, and honoring the Christian commitment of its
founders, ECCR will continue to support persons with

assure that each person shall realize his/her full potential as
a child of God and be satisfactorily integrated within society,
a variety of resources shall be used including residential care,
adult programs and training, social and spiritual nurture and
community advocacy.

THE ECCR |
The
Eastern Christian
Children’s Retreat serves
more than 115 individuals with a broad range of mental and physical
disabilities. Founded in the spirit of Christian love, the
residential facility opened in December 1972. The Retreat expanded
into the community in 1986 with the development of
group homes, where
residents enjoy supervised supported living. In1992 the Retreat
advanced its philosophy of providing home-like settings for
residents with the construction of on-site lodges. A volunteer Board
of Director’s, elected from the community, governs
Eastern Christian
Children’s Retreat. The
Retreat is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and
holds memberships in the American Association on Mental Retardation,
the American Network of Community Options and Resources, and the New
Jersey Association of Community Providers, and Council of Reformed
Charities. We are also member of the Evangelical Council
of Financial Accountability.
